Inevitably at the end of each school year there are personnel changes and this is no different for our Kāhui Ako. We have accepted Suzanne Pidduck’s resignation as the Kāhui Ako Co-Leader as she moves to the South Island. Suzanne has worked tirelessly and co led the foundation of our Kāhui Ako very successfully. Suzanne will be greatly missed. We wish her and the family well as they embark on new adventures in Timaru. This will provide an opportunity for another Co Leader to be appointed to continue our Dual Leadership model. We also farewell Dave Cournane, an Across School Leader who has shared his passion for positive education with many. Dave has won a new position at Aotea College.
On the welcome front, we have just appointed Karen Overell from Brooklyn Primary school as our new Across School Teacher. Karen is the Junior (Year 1-2) Leader at Brooklyn School. She has taught across all age levels at a number of Wellington Primary and Intermediate Schools. Karen’s educational philosophy includes a focus on developing social skills (whanaungatanga and manaakitanga); hauora and a love for being at school; a holistic approach to learning where learning is developmentally appropriate, students have choice and can explore learning through investigative play and inquiry.
Here is where you can find out our latest progress on our Kāhui Ako journey.
